All-You-Can-Eat Cereal and Cartoons – OCTOBER EDITION!

3 HOURS OF RETRO CARTOONS!

Remember Saturday mornings? Kids today may not realize the significance of the Saturday morning ritual, but once upon a time, we had to wait a whole week to get our cartoon fix, and when we got it, we tended to binge.

Well, welcome to the Saturday Morning All-You-Can-Eat Cereal Cartoon Party, that special time when kids and kids-at-heart get to relive the exciting Saturday Morning ritual of non-stop retro cartoons, and binge on the multi-coloured sugary cereals that used to be a part of every “balanced” breakfast!

The cartoon lineup is always a mystery, but expect to see monsters, sci-fi, sleuths, superheroes and all kinds of 2D silliness, both faves and obscurities spanning the '60s through the '90s, all punctuated with vintage commercials, PSAs and station IDs for a 3-hour trip down memory lane! So get ready for a sugar rush and an explosion of nostalgia all wrapped up in one candy-coated package. Dairy free options available! Curator: David Bertrand

Rainbow Film Club: A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy’s Revenge

"... the second Nightmare on Elm Street is obviously intended as a bisexual themed film. [...]. Jesse's wrestling with whether to come out or not and his own sexual desires was manifested by Freddy. His friend is the object of his affection. That's all there in that film." - Robert Englund

SPECTRUM and the Queer Night Out Waterloo Region are pleased to partner with Apollo Cinema to present the Rainbow Film Club! Join us each month for a classic of queer cinema. You can also join SPECTRUM & the QNO Waterloo Region for a Queer Night Out discussion group in the week following each screening to discuss the film.

Jesse Walsh moves with his family into the home of the lone survivor from a series of attacks by dream-stalking monster Freddy Krueger. There, Jesse is bedeviled by nightmares and inexplicably violent impulses. It turns out Freddy is out to possess him in order to continue his reign of terror in the real world.
