Cinema KaBOOM: Death Wish 3

Cinema KaBOOM brings you action stars from the 70s, 80s and 90s who just love a good explosion!
Film #3 in our 6 film series ending in a FREE (and AWESOME) ACTION FILM SCREENING – make sure you hold onto your punch cards!

Charles Bronson reprises his role as Paul Kersey for a third time in one of the most over-the-top and gratuitously violent films ever committed to celluloid. Returning to New York (actually England pretending to be New York), Kersey discovers things are even worse than before when a crooked police chief (Ed Lauter) forcibly recruits the architect-vigilante to clean up the streets.

With a 50-plus body count, non-stop action and Bronson's deadpan delivery, director Michael Winner pushed "Death Wish 3" to absurd and excessive extremes; it remains one of the crown jewels of the action genre.

Singalong! Across the Universe

Apollo's Singalong series gives you the opportunity to sing along with your favourite musicals, subtitled where possible, with a friendly crowd who doesn't care how off-key you are as long as you're belting it out to the rafters.

The Beatles' songs may have provided the soundtrack for the lives of those coming-of-age in the '60s, but their extensive catalogue acts as the literal soundtrack in this romantic musical from visionary director Julie Taymor.

Jim Sturgess stars as Jude, a young man working on the docks in Liverpool. Eager to escape, he travels to Princeton where he meets Max (Joe Anderson). But it’s his meeting with Max’s younger sister, Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood), that changes him. They quickly fall in love, but their relationship is tested by the chaos of the times.

Throughout the film, characters (and cool guest stars!) burst into classics, from "With a Little Help from My Friends," to "I Am the Walrus," to "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite." Get ready! It's a real trip!

Retro Recall: American Psycho

Celebrating the anniversaries of some of the greatest genre classics of the 80s and 90s, Retro Recall is a visual spectacle of epic proportions.

Return to a time when Christian Bale was the chainsaw-wielding, business-card slinging scourge of Manhattan. Caught during the height of American Yuppieism in the late '80s, Patrick Bateman finds himself surrounded by friends that he hates and a culture he can’t stand. Can anyone blame him for allowing his nightly bloodlust to overflow into the day?

It simply doesn't get any better than Bateman lecturing a soon-to-be victim on the cultural undertones found within Huey Lewis and The News’ “Hip to be Square,” all while wearing a raincoat and holding an incredibly shiny axe. So slick back your hair, put on your finest Valentino suit and join us for a bloody fun night of murder, mayhem, and fragile masculinity. Oh, and don’t forget to return those videotapes on the way to the theatre!

Vixens and Tease Burlesque: Chicago

It's the 1920s, and the windy city of Chicago is alive with the sound of jazz. But for wannabe singer Roxie Hart (Renee Zellweger), the only sound she's going to be hearing is jail doors slamming behind her. After shooting her lover, she faces imprisonment and possibly the death sentence. But Roxie's fortunes may change after she encounters the notorious vaudeville star Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta Jones), and a slick lawyer by the name of Billy Flynn (Richard Gere).

Enjoy this contemporary classic enhanced by the talents of Vixens & Tease Burlesque who will perform a live, in theme, strip tease show!
